We visited this place today and it was very interesting. We saw first a short film on the cultivation of the chilli pepper. The film is in french but also in English and in German and in Spanish.
After the woman gave us some explanations and we tasted different forms of chilli pepper (jam, powder, sauce ). We bought some. There’s a large place to park the car and the visit is free. I recommend if you are close to Espelette. This house is on the way to the border with Spain outside of the city.

We really enjoyed our visit and bought lots of products to take home! Worth the walk up the hill from the town. When we arrived a lady was already talking with other tourists in French. She didn’t speak English but we were lucky that another lady did speak English and was free to take just the two of us on a separate tour in English. Our guide was excellent. So passionate and knowledgeable. Willing to answer all our questions. On returning to the shop, she gave us lots of tastings and described the products. Highly recommend but would suggest if you need an English tour you maybe book ahead as I think we were just lucky on the day we pitched up unannounced.
